faq's
- Q: Is this legit? Why is SoFi doing this? It feels too good to be true.
A: Yes, it’s legit. SoFi is a publicly traded financial company with millions of members. They are the Official Banking Partner of the NBA and have sponsorship deals with pro athletes like Josh Allen, Cameron Brink, and more. Like most banks and fintech apps, they spend heavily on marketing to acquire new customers. Instead of paying for billboards or ads, they’re choosing to pay college students directly to open an account and try SoFi for themselves.
- Q: What’s the catch? Is this going to cost me money?
A: There’s no catch. You open a new SoFi Checking & Savings account and get paid $50. No deposit is required, and there is no minimum balance required. You are also not required to keep using SoFi after completing the deal.
- Q: When do I get paid, and how does payout work?
A: Once your account is opened and successfully tracked, your $50 payout is sent within 24 hours. You can choose how you want to receive it, including options like Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, prepaid Visa card, or gift cards to brands like Apple, Nike, and Walmart.
- Q: Why do I need to enter my SSN?
A: Because you are opening a real financial account. Just like other banks and financial apps, SoFi uses your information to verify your identity and comply with banking regulations. This is a normal part of opening a bank account.
- Q: So will this hurt my credit?
A: No. Opening a SoFi Checking & Savings account through this deal does not require a hard credit pull, so it would not affect your credit score.

You’ll earn $20 for every successful referral. Then, on April 30th, we’ll look at your total number of successful referrals. Based on the level you reach, you can choose one of the four prizes shown, or a gift card to a brand of your choice of equal value.
